Walga Rock, Goldfields

Walga Rock, Goldfields

Located nearly 50 kilometres south-west of Cue, Walga Rock is claimed to be the second biggest monolith in Australia. There is an extensive series of Aboriginal paintings in a gallery on the side of the rock which contains the controversial image of either a sailing ship from the Dutch East India Company or a steam powered sailing ship from a much later period. As the painting is over 325 kilometres from the sea, there is also controversy as to who painted it.
